Another interesting week of trailers with Disney being the main advocate of the biggest trailer drops in the form of Star Wars and The Lion King. There are plenty of others to keep us preoccupied to, let’s check them all out below;
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Yes, it’s finally here. The Episode IX trailer – The Rise of Skywalker. J.J Abrams is back on board with the film after Rian Johnson’s mess of Episode 8. The trailer gives us a brief look of Lando Calrissian and Carrie Fisher’s Leia, as well as showing us the newer characters from the last two episodes. Oh and at the end of the trailer is a very familiar evil cackle…
Star Wars Episode IX will hit UK cinemas on 19 December and US theatres on 20 December. Just in time to be a Christmas hit!
The Lion King
Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase! I mean, I can’t wait to sing it! The film trailer of The Lion King looks impressive and most of the animals within it look so real that I’d be fooled into thinking they were. Most of the trailer is scene by scene of the original, but it does look amazing! It’s how the live action films should be done by Disney!
The Lion King will drop in on the 19 July.
The Secret Life Of Pets 2
I have mixed feelings about this film. The first one was alright, but my two kids absolutely loved it and I’ve seen it about a thousand times and still counting. The characters were the best thing about the film and it looks as if it’s focusing back in on each of them again, as well as bringing some new ones in. The voice of Max has also changed to Patton Oswalt after Louis C.K’s dismissal. Still, it looks like it could be fun, as long as I don’t have to watch it over and over…
The Secret Life of Pets 2 will hit theatres in UK 24 May, and has a later release in the US of 7 June.
The Addams Family
I’ve always been a fan of the Addams Family, after all, I am an Adams (Okay, okay, I only have one D in my surname, not two, but I still count it!). The Addams Family has taken an animated route and has some decent names on board in the likes of Charlize Theron, Oscar Isaac, and Chloë Grace Moretz.
The Addams Family will hit cinemas on 11 October in the US and 25 October in the UK. Just in time for Halloween!
The official synopsis of Booksmart is “On the eve of their graduation, two overachieving high school seniors realize that they should have worked less and played more. Determined not to fall short of their peers, the girls try to cram four years of fun into one night.” It looks like a standard comedy but check out the trailer out below and make your own judgment.
Booksmart will be showing in theatres from 24 May in the US and the 27 May in the UK.
Wine Country is a gentle comedy from Netflix which Amy Poehler stars and directs. The synopsis reads “When a group of longtime girlfriends goes to Napa for the weekend to celebrate their friend’s 50th birthday, tensions from the past boil over.”
Netflix will be showing Wine Country from the 10 May.
Anna is by the directors of the film Lucy and you can certainly see the similarities of the pair. It’s an assassin film to put it simply, starring Sasha Luss as Anna, and a supporting cast of Helen Mirren, Luke Evans, and Cillian Murphy. Might be worth a watch.
Anna will be showing in theatres from 21 June.
It felt like last week I had a film on the trailer list with Dave Bautista in… Oh… That’s because it was last week. Please calm down on the film releases Bautista. The film is about Bautista’s cop character recruiting an Uber driver to help catch a heroin dealer. Obviously, the pair are a right mismatch and it feels like something we’ve all seen time and time again.
Stuber will hit the cinemas on 12 July.
The Last Summer
Another new Netflix film trailer in the form of The Last Summer. It stars KJ Apa, better known for his role in Riverdale, and is the usual young love soppy romantic stuff that we’ve seen many times before.
The Last Summer will be available to watch on Netflix from 3 May.
Detective Pikachu Casting Clip
Not a trailer as such, but put down as a ‘Detective Pikachu Casting Clip’. It’s a fun plug showing us the various pokémon within the film and them having to audition for their parts. This film looks so much better than I first thought!
Detective Pikachu will hit theatres on the 10 May.
Avengers: Endgame Clip
Oh, another one that isn’t a trailer as such, more a film clip. Oh, and it’s more Avengers: Endgame! Not sure if you get this, but I can’t wait. Check the film clip below…
Avengers: Endgame will release on 25 April. EEK!
Sneaky Pete Season 3
Amazon Prime’s critically acclaimed series, Sneaky Pete has shown it’s first teaser trailer for season 3. The teaser recaps season 1 and 2 and gives a brief look on what’s coming up in the series.
Sneaky Pete Season 3 will launch on Amazon Prime on 10 May.
Veronica Mars Season 4
Can’t say Veronica Mars is something I’ve seen, but Kristen Bell reprises her role as Veronica for season 4. Not too much happens in the teaser, but check it out below.
Veronica Mars Season 4 will debut on streaming service Hulu on 26 July.
Lucifer Season 4
The first of two Netflix TV trailers I’m including this week is Lucifer Season 4. Lucifer was canceled by Fox after three seasons, but there was an outcry by fans for this fourth season. Netflix snapped it up and finally, a teaser has got released.
Lucifer Season 4 will be released on Netflix on 8 May.
The second Netflix TV trailer is Chambers which stars Uma Thurman. Ultimately the series is about a woman surviving a heart transplant and developing different personality traits. Actually looks like it could be worth a watch!
Chambers will be released on Netflix on 26 April.
