Although there may be mixed feelings lingering about the Nintendo Switch’s online services right now, those who do subscribe have been receiving NES games on their console every month.
However, new marketing suggests the monthly addition of games will not continue indefinitely (which, we suppose, makes sense). According to a pamphlet which was given to Nintendo-partnered stores in Hong Kong there is a disclaimer that reads, “NES/Famicom games will stop being added to NSO after a certain period of time.”
This makes sense, as the NES does not have an infinite library, as much as we’d like it to. And Nintendo only adds a few titles to the Switch online services a month–it may even be possible that Nintendo has moved onto the next console before it finishes out the NES library.

Some are also hopeful that this means SNES games will be offered to online subscribers at some point as well. Ultimately, it seems we will just have to wait and see with this one.
