According to a report, Sony has revealed that we won’t be seeing the launch of the PS5 before April 2020.
Despite unveiling some details about their upcoming next-generation console, Sony is still remaining pretty quiet on the consoles name as well as when it’ll be available. However, according to The Wall Street Journal, we won’t be seeing the console for at least another 12 months.
This puts the arrival of the PS5 – which is what basically everyone is calling it at this point – until May 2020 at the earliest.
Sony made this announcement during their financial results where they also revealed that the PlayStation 4 has sold an impressive 17.8m over the past 12 months. Though this is down slightly over last year’s sales figures. In total, the PS4 has sold 96.8 million consoles.
If I were to speculate, we’ll be seeing the PS5 around October/November 2020 in preparation for the holiday season. Whether or not Microsoft will also have their next console available at that point remains to be seen.
