Disney has released a full-length trailer of their next live-action venture – The Lion King. It shows a lot more than the teaser trailer back in November and really shows off the impressiveness of the photo-realistic animals.
Most of what is shown in the trailer is a carbon copy of the scenes in the 1994 original, but you know what, it works. It’s not trying to be something different or changing the story as Disney did with Dumbo, it’s giving us what we want and all the things we loved from the original film.
The trailer shows us our first proper look at Scar, the hyenas and many more of the characters. We even get to hear more of the voices than we did from the teaser. Oh and even a snippet of Pumbaa and Timon singing ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ features at the end of the trailer!
The film, which is being directed by Jon Favreau (directed The Jungle Book) also boasts an all-star cast. Donald Glover stars as Simba, Nala is being played by Beyoncé, Seth Rogen has taken on Pumbaa and Chiwetel Ejiofor is taking over from Jeremy Irons and putting his voice to Scar. James Earl Jones also returns to voice Musafa. Did I mention Beyoncé?!
The Lion King will hit theatres on 19 July later this year! The film is set to break some records when it’s released and I can’t wait to see it!
