Netflix has confirmed that its Witcher TV series is set to land on the streaming service by the end of the year.
During an investor call – as reported by Deadline – Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandso told investors that its upcoming adaptation starring Henry Cavil will arrive in Q4. This would put The Witcher’s release on Netflix ahead of its previous 2020 release window.
While there is a video game series of the same name, Netflix’ series is actually an adaptation of the novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, the same novels CD Projekt RED’s video game series is based. Sapkowski is on board the new series as Creative Consultant.
Netflix’s The Witcher is written by Lauren Hissrich and stars Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold, and Freya Allan as Ciri. The show is currently in production in Hungary.
