Respawn Entertainment has revealed that development of the next Titanfall game has been “pushed out” as the team continues to focus on Apex Legends.

It’s no secret that Apex Legends was a surprising hit from the get-go. Seeing some incredible numbers just a few days after launch players have been pawing for new content to be added to the game, and while the first content drop added a single new character, things have been pretty quiet since.

The reason for that is largely unknown, but what we do know is that the team behind Apex Legends is also the team behind the next Titanfall game which was teased by EA, as well as Respawn boss Vince Zampella.

Now, the launch hype has died down and people are worried that Apex Legends was just a flash in the pan and its honeymoon period is over. However the team behind the battle royale want to ensure you, that’s not the case.

In a rather transparent blog post, Drew McCoym Executive Producer of Apex Legends revealed that while the team behind Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the Apex team were also working on the next Titanfall game.

“Regarding other games in development at Respawn, it is important to understand that there are entirely separate development teams working on Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, he said. “Additionally, in order to fully support Apex Legends, we are pushing out plans for future Titanfall games. No resources from the Apex Legends team are being shifted to other titles in development here at the studio, nor are we pulling resources from the team working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.”

What that means exactly, we’re unsure, as we have no idea how far along the team was with the new Titanfall title – though it was slated to be out this year. That being said, for those with the Titanfall itch after playing Apex Legends, you might be waiting for a while for a new title in the series. Or, you could jump into Titanfall 2 which seems to have received a new lease of life.
