Today, Games For Change unveiled their complete festival programming for 2019. The 2019 Games For Change Festival runs from June 17 through June 19 this year at The New School in New York City, although things kick off the weekend before with various XR Brain Jam events.

This year, Games For Change is switching things up a little bit and starting with its third annual XR For Change Summit on June 17, which consists of various VR and XR tech demos and interactive sessions highlighting the social impact and real-world changes made through technology. The summit has taken place on the final day of the festival in previous years.

Meanwhile, June 18 and 19 will consist of panels, talks, workshops, demos, and mentoring sessions on a wide array of topics, such as esports, game design, education, and more, featuring an even wider array of speakers, hailing from Google, UNESCO, Schell Games, and elsewhere. The entire programming schedule for June 18 and 19 is available here, with more to come on XR For Change in the next few weeks.

The entire festival will close out on June 18 with its annual awards ceremony, which honors both mainstream and Indie games in the categories of Most Innovative, Best Gameplay, Best Learning Game, Most Significant Impact, Best Student Game, Best XR For Change Experience, Game of the Year, and the G4C People’s Choice Award.

Games for Change was founded in 2004 and encourages game creators and social innovators to “drive real-world change using games and technology that help people to learn, improve their communities, and contribute to make the world a better place.” The group encourages the exchange of ideas and resources from both experienced, professional game developers, and students just starting out.
