Ubisoft officially unveiled their next Ghost Recon game and as previous leaks had already revealed, it’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is essentially a follow-on from Wildlands and offers a very similar formula. Set in the new open-world of Auroa, players either solo or in four-player co-op will find themselves behind enemy lines as tech giant, Skell Technology, has fallen into the wrong hands.
A group of Ghost agents, known as The Wolves, have gone rogue and have taken over the island of Auroa and Skell Technologies along with it. It’s up to players to take on Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker (who many may have already seen in the latest free update for Wildlands) and The Wolves to regain control of the island after being shot down.
Players will also face new challenges such as accumulating injuries during their missions, and fatigue, and will be able to use new mechanics such as the ability to carry enemies and teammates’ bodies, blend into environments with camo, and build their own camps where they can manage equipment, classes, and more.
The game is also set to feature “thousands” of customization combinations to fine-tune their Breakpoint experience while also keeping their character and progression throughout the game in both the campaign and PvP. The game is also set to feature post-launch support not unlike Wildlands, with regular updates featuring story arcs, classes, features, and more.
Oh, and Ubisoft has also revealed that Ghost Recon Breakpoint will feature a new type of endgame: Raids.
As with most Ubisoft titles – and the whole reason for the game’s leak – Breakpoint will come with several editions, the Gold, Ultimate, and Wolves Collector’s Edition. Those who purchase either of the below editions will gain access to the game three days early. Pre-ordering the game will also give players access to the game’s beta.
- The Gold Edition will include the base game and the Year 1 Pass.
- The Ultimate Edition will include the base game, the Year 1 Pass and the Ultimate Pack.
- The Wolves Collector’s Edition will include the base game, the Year 1 Pass, the Ultimate Pack, a Ubicollectibles® high-end figurine of Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker, a Steelbook, exclusive lithographs, Walker’s dog tag, and a waterproof map of Auroa as well as the soundtrack.
Finally, Ubisoft is selling a standalone Ubicollectibles figurine of Nomad which is now available for preorder on the Ubisoft store.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 4, 2019. Players can pre-order Breakpoint from the game’s website.
