According to Variety, Twilight star Robert Pattinson has been cast as The Batman in the upcoming reboot from Matt Reeves.
The Batman franchise has been through a lot these past few years, but Warner Bros. is willing to reboot the popular comic entity once more in its cinematic incarnation. Details are still scarce but according to reports Robert Pattinson will indeed put on the cowl this time around in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman.
The announcement was met with mixed reactions, similarly to Ben Affleck’s casting choice back when he was announced as the next flappy avenger in the DCEU, yet it’s still way too early to judge anything as The Batman aims for a 2021 release. Director Matt Reeves himself kept many details to himself as of now and so far it seems to not be a specific comic adaption.
Pattinson, probably most known for sparkling around as Edward in the Twilight movie adaptations, will be the first British actor to portray the Dark Knight on the big screen and since finishing up the Twilight films he’s had a varied career garnering critical praise for some of his roles. If he will be a better Bruce Wayne/Batman than Ben Affleck remains to be seen.
