Jeff Fowler, director of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie has revealed that he’ll be changing the appearance of the character following backlash.
It’s no secret that our first look at Sonic in the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie was met with horror, both from ourselves and pretty much everyone who watched the trailer. The character’s appearance spurred many, many memes online and even encouraged some people to fix his appearance.
Now, it seems Paramount is on board with fixing Sonic’s appearance as Fowler has spoken out against the backlash. In response to the criticism, he wrote the following on Twitter:
Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast 🔧✌️

Of course, this has left us with a lot of questions. Is the movie still scheduled to release later this year? What “changes” are going to be made? Will they actually be sticking true to classic Sonic’s design?
I guess the answers to all of these questions will be realised when the movie hits theatres (hopefully) on November 7, 2019.
