While Avengers: Endgame still closing in on Avatar’s colossal box office record, Aladdin has swooped in and scored a massive $200 million opening weekend.
Domestically, Aladdin has earned an estimated $86.1 million with that number expecting to grow to $105 million as today is Memorial Day in the states. Internationally, the movie has made an estimated $121 million for the same three-day period, totaling $207.1 million in its opening weekend.
Of course, this is nothing on Avengers: Endgame whose opening weekend surpassed the billion dollar mark, but it’s an impressive number for another one of the many live-action remakes Disney is pumping out as of late, and considering Dumbo failed to make any lasting impression, it’s nice to see Disney is on it once again.
Speaking of Avengers: Endgame, the movie saw $16.8 million through the weekend with numbers expecting to push the total to $21.9 million domestically. This puts the overall number at $2.67 billion worldwide, which is just short of Avatar’s $2.78 million.
John Wick 3 also continues to pull in audiences making an estimated $24.4 million domestically, a figure that’s expected to climb to around $30 million when today’s numbers come in. Overall the movie has earned an estimated $181.5 million in its second week pushing ahead of John Wick 2 which earned 171.5 million throughout its entire theatrical run.
Finally, on the new entry front, this week is James Gunn’s Brightburn which scored $7.5 million domestically putting it in fifth place, followed by Booksmart which scored $6.5 million.
