No, you aren’t dreaming. Apex Legends, the Titanfall-inspired shooter that took the Battle Royale world by storm, now features dragons spread throughout its map.
These winged beasts can be spotted soaring through the skies during a game, and players can even bring them down with some well-placed gunfire. As users on Reddit have shown, taking down a so-called Flyer is not without its rewards: there’s loot to be had if you successfully shoot one from the skies.
This isn’t the first we’re hearing about dragons in Apex Legends, mind you. A few days before E3 kicked off in earnest, EA hosted their EA Play show, and one of the main features was the game’s upcoming second season.
Towards the end of the presentation, a series of Apex Legends clips concluded with footage of a giant, reptilian eye turning towards the camera. This creature looks to be far, far bigger than the Flyers currently making a home for themselves in-game, so there’s clearly some dramatic developments on the horizon.
In addition to dragons, Reddit users have spotted another change to the map, albeit a slightly more subtle one: the Leviathan creature has changed position. What this means for the game remains unclear, but it could be that the team at Respawn is taking cues from Fortnite when it comes to steadily building towards substantial or significant changes to the game.
