Ah yes, Banjo-Kazooie: the platforming bird (Kazooie) and bear (Banjo) team that brought life to the Nintendo 64 from 1998 to 2000, and also existed on the Gameboy Advance and Xbox 360.

The games have remained popular since 1998, even with some mishaps and missteps with the post-N64 sequels, thanks to the cutting, sometimes adult-oriented humor and creative worlds. Fans are constantly hoping for another game (or an appearance in Smash Ultimate), and the release of some new Banjo-Kazooie merchandise has gotten them excited again.

Not only have plushes of the duo appeared in stores like Gamestop recently, but Exquisite Gaming has also been teasing new Banjo-Kazooie items. Specifically, they have dropped a close-up image of Banjo’s backpack, which has a slightly updated design, which can be seen below. The Rare logo is new and the straps have a different design, plus there doesn’t appear to be a top flap at all.

And if going off a slightly varied backpack design isn’t enough for you, it’s worth noting that Exquisite Gaming’s tease was in response to a tweet specifically about E3. Twitter user PapaGenos also said he had heard the company tends to time merchandise releases with new game releases, citing Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, among others.

Of course, even if these are all hints to new Banjo-Kazooie content, we don’t know what form the content will take. Remasters? A release on the Nintendo Switch? Another series game? Inclusion in Smash Ultimate!?

As excruciating as it is, we just have to wait and see for more concrete information. But E3 is coming up, so maybe we won’t have to wait too long…?
