THQ and Airship Syndicate, developers of Battle Chasers: Nightwar, have just announced a spin-off partnership title within the Darksiders universe, Darksiders: Genesis.
This title sees the long-standing third-person action series take a new approach to gameplay through Diablo-esque fashion. This time around players will seemingly assume the role of the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse, Strife, as he shoots, cuts, and blasts his way through enemy hordes. The game looks like it pulls heavily from Diablo, with it’s top down camera view, and dungeon crawling action. The more observant viewer will also notice War fighting alongside Strife. Could this be hinting to some form of cooperative play?
The game’s actual description is as follows…
“In Darksiders Genesis, the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, Strife, is called upon to save humankind from certain destruction at the hands of Lucifer. True to it’s roots, Darksiders Genesis will feature intense combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from Heaven to Hell. The game marks the first, full-scale Darksiders adventure played from the top-down perspective.”
The end of the game’s reveal trailer tells us this new addition to the Darksiders universe will come to basically every console and streaming service out there. Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and even the newly announced Google Stadia will all be viable options to try your hand at this new Darksiders experience.
Though a release date wasn’t announced I’m sure we’ll be getting more details on this (and plenty of other titles) at some point during E3 2019. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this new Darksiders title in the comments below, and check out the Darksiders Genesis trailer while you’re at it!
