During Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct broadcast, the company announced the next two DLC characters coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

What an E3 for Smash fans! The next two DLC characters have been revealed. The rampant speculations can finally come to an end. So far four playable iterations of Dragon Quest’s Hero have been revealed.

The default Hero hails from Dragon Quest XI (coming to Switch 27 September 2019), and the three other costumes have been shown so far are from Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen and Dragon Quest III (aka Dragon Warrior III for the NES).

But wait, isn’t that only a paltry four costumes for a new character? Before you get your pitchforks ready, hear me out, this may be complete conjecture, but I believe we will get female alternates for at least a couple of the Dragon Quest Heroes as in the games these characters come from you can select your sex at the start when creating your player character.

If your favorite Dragon Quest warrior was not revealed to be playable, then fear not as what appears to be the Hero’s Final Smash features all previous playable protagonists piling on a spectacular attack to decimate their target.

Dragon Quest’s Hero will be joining the swelling Smash Bros. roster in Summer 2019, which could be any time from now until the Autumnal equinox at the end of September!

With the release date for Dragon Quest XI on Switch being at a similar time, it wouldn’t be much of a leap to expect Hero’s arrival around then to promote the rerelease of DQXI. Check out the trailer below.

Condolences go out to all those hoping Minecraft Steve, James Bond 007, Waluigi or Master Chief would be revealed; instead, we have been treated to the Rare addition of another animal duo team: Banjo-Kazooie is finally joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Banjo and Kazooie are the titular protagonists of the classic Retro franchise Banjo-Kazooie that started out life as a SNES prototype and gone on to appear in numerous games on the N64 and hasn’t been in a game on a Nintendo system since 2005’s Banjo-Pilot for the GBA.

Fun Fact: Banjo’s official playable debut was as one of the drivers in Diddy Kong Racing.

B-K’s stage seems to be a Smashified Spiral Mountain with the iconic drawbridge leading to Gruntilda’s Lair and their final smash is made up of Jinjos of each color come in and launch a powerful attack, in a very similar fashion to the final battle of Banjo-Kazooie against Gruntilda. Banjo-Kazooie will be available Autumn 2019!

Both new reps have also been added to the colossal Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Banner illustration. Who do you think will be added next? With another two slots left in the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighter Pass it could be anyone!

My hopes are for James Bond and Lara Croft, let us know below who you think will be our Spring 2020 Smash DLC Fighter!
