Today during a Pokémon Direct broadcast, Nintendo announced the release date for Pokémon Sword and Shield, the first main entries in the series to be on Switch.
Ahead of E3 2019, Nintendo has spilled the beans on the upcoming Pokémon titles including the game’s release date of November 15, 2019. A new trailer was also unveiled which highlighted some of the new features coming to the game later this year.
One of those new additions is a brand new mechanic called Dynamax which takes place in massive stadiums. What this mechanic basically does is supersize Pokémon into huge holographic versions of themselves complete with boosted powers.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will also feature multiplayer where up to four players can work together to take on these creatures, no doubt a feature influenced by Pokémon Go Raid Battles.
We were also given a glimpse of some brand new Pokémon, the first being a sheep-like monster called Wooloo and a flower-like Pokémon called Glossifleur. In addition, Corviknight, a massive bird Pokémon, was also shown off and will act as a way for players to travel between towns.
Finally, we were teased with some of the game’s Legendary monsters in the form of Zacian and Zamazenta who’ll be the mascots for each game.
