THQ Nordic has announced that SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is getting the remastered treatment with ‘Rehydrated’ coming 2020 to consoles and PC.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom initially launched on the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube back in 2003 and became a cult classic platformer. More often than not I see people making jokes on Twitter about how the game should make a comeback, and guess what, now it’s happening.
THQ Nordic is set to announce three titles this week ahead of E3 2019. The first being a remake of the 2003 hit. While details are thin, we know it’ll be coming to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC in 2020 and is in development over at Purple Lamp Studios.
The game is also set to feature a multiplayer mode as well as some cut content from the original release, at least according to the Steam page that surfaced soon after the announcement.
More details are likely to be unveiled during E3 later this weekend.
For those who missed out, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a puzzle platformer where SpongeBob and the gang are saving Bikini Bottom from a robot invasion that Plankton most likely has something to do with.
