The Secret Life of Pets 2 is at the top of the US Box Office following a pretty disappointing opening weekend for a number of movies.

The first slightly disappointing result was The Secret Life of Pets 2. Despite landing in first place this week, its estimated $47.1 million earnings fell under expectations. Furthermore, it’s barely half of what the debut movie pulled in back in 2016 ($104.3 million).

Superhero movies as of late have been performing pretty well, especially Marvel movies, however, there’s one Marvel-related property that just can’t catch a break. That’s right, X-Men. This weekend saw the debut weekend for Dark Phoenix, and following a swathe of bad reviews, only managed to open in second place with an $33 million in its first three days on release.

Worldwide, Dark Phoenix managed to earn itself $107 million.

As for the remaining top ten, there are no other new entries this week. Last week’s box office topper, Godzilla: King of Monsters actually fell down to fourth place this week with a domestic total of $78.5 million.

This means Disney’s Aladdin sits in third place falling just a single place after its second week in theatres. Rocketman has also fallen, now sitting in fifth place followed by Ma and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum in sixth and seventh place, respectively.

Avengers Endgame sits happily in eighth place getting ever closer to becoming the highest grossing film in the world with a worldwide cume of $1.90 billion. This puts it just $60 billion behind Avatar.

Here’s the full rundown:
