Blizzard Entertainment’s CCG Hearthstone is still going strong, roughly five years after its original launch and on August 6 we’ll see the launch of its 12th expansion, Saviors of Uldum. The add on to the popular virtual card game is centered around the heroes of the League of Explorers, returning from the titular previous expansion to once again save the day.
A fresh reveal for the newest addition to Hearthstone comes in the form of King Phaoris with footage courtesy of Game Clips And Tips. While it’s obvious the art department had a field day designing this tiger… horse… goat… person (?!) back in the day for the World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm the game designers for Hearthstone let their heart out for his Battlecry in the card game.
You can see it in action here:
So he’s a neutral guy, meaning he’s playable by any class, for those unfamiliar. Obviously he will be most useful in decks with lots of large spells, meaning mages will probably get the biggest kick out of King Phaoris. Got big and lots of spell cards in your hand? Play King Phaoris and get double the value out of them by stacking up your board presence!
I usually find these random cards loads of fun to play around with as the results can be absolutely hilarious for both players in the match. Where or if at all he has any place in the current meta remains to be seen, also dependant on the various pools for mana costs from which minions will be summoned via the battlecry, a factor which makes cards like Bane of Doom a pretty risky play.
So far Saviors of Uldum looks really fun and I’m looking forward to checking it all out on August 6.
