Calling all Monster Hunter World fans: returning foe Glavenus will be joining the roster of monsters for the game’s upcoming Iceborne expansion, which launches on September 6.
For those not in the know, Glavenus are Brute Wyverns and were first introduced in Monster Hunter Generations. If, like me, you sometimes have trouble keeping up with the myriad monsters in the franchise, Glavenus is easily spotted: it has a massive tail that looks like a sword pulled straight from a Final Fantasy game.
Also being added into the game is the revamped Gathering Hub, which serves as a meeting place and social area for players. For those hoping to see new foes, there’s something for you as well: Iceborne will be introducing more subspecies monsters — essentially nastier variants of other creatures — in the form of Ebony Odogaron and Fulgur Anjanath.
These subspecies creatures aren’t simply sporting a fancier aesthetic to their base counterparts. They’re tougher and more aggressive, and are intended to be opponents for Hunters looking for a greater challenge — and greater rewards.
Capcom are certainly enthusiastic about Iceborne and, given the company’s recent successes, it’s hard to blame them. Their most recent high-profile titles all launched to excellent reception: you can read our reviews of Monster Hunter World, Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 to see what we thought of them. Here’s hoping Iceborne continues the trend.
