Lionsgate will be opening Lionsgate Entertainment World, their very first Asian theme park, later this month.
The theme park will be opening in Hengqin, Zhuhai, China, and the theme will be, unsurprisingly, Lionsgate’s films. Twilight, The Hunger Games, the Divergent series, Now You See Me, Escape Plan, and Gods of Egypt will all be featured across 25 attractions and 22,000 square miles.
It seems as if the movie attractions will rely heavily on VR and other simulation technology, as Gods of Egypt‘s attraction is a VR roller coaster, and The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Twilight attractions have all been described as “simulators.”
Jenefer Brown, Lionsgate’s Senior VP of global live and location-based entertainment described some of the attractions as such: “From escaping the Capitol to braving the mental and physical challenges of Dauntless to taking on a newborn vampire army with Jacob and the Wolf Pack.” She added that “We can’t wait for fans to step into the worlds of their favorite films to create their own authentic adventures.”
Lionsgate Entertainment World will open on July 31.
