Escap3: Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls

This short series of features is centered on the use of gaming as a form of escapism. Some may argue that all games can be used in this way, but none so much as a few titles that really suck you into their worlds, lore and style of gaming. I'll be covering a few of the titles that have been amazingly helpful in the face of crises over the span of my life and hopefully, give some insight into why they're so therapeutic in the first place.

#Throwback Thursday – Zombies ate my Neighbors.

After seeing so many titles for zombie games it made me think about all the old titles prior to this generation of the Zombie genre in video games. It has made me think about the change between the staggering, limping zombies to the sprinting, punching infected as were calling them now, you know, because they have feelings too. So I thought I’d go back into the past and play “Zombies ate my neighbors".

As I mentioned during my thoughts on the DOOM reboot's reveal at E3, I've been a huge fan of the series for most of my life, thanks in no small part to the plethora of amazing maps and modifications the community have been creating for over 20 years. New and interesting tweaks to the game that helped popularise the FPS are still coming out almost every day.

#ThrowbackThursday: Resident Evil

Before Capcom decided to do what every company does and go about the actions of “Change” I would like to point out to the new generation of Gamers that Resident Evil was never an over the shoulder 3rd person action shooter. It began as a survival horror filled with puzzles, eerie atmosphere and a hell of a lot of zombies. As well as a lot of locked camera angles to make the game far more intense.

Killer-Instinct

#ThrowbackThurday Killer Instinct (SNES).

The new Killer Instinct was announced a few weeks ago at Microsoft's E3 press conference, I am so excited that I wanted to take a journey back in time to magical land of the 90's, which was the golden age of video gaming consoles and PC's alike. So lets start at 1995: This game originally was conceived for the N64 when at the time it was still in it's prototype under the name Ultra 64, but it did not come out on the console because it was delayed so many times until eventually it ended up on the SNES and the graphics were not as good as the arcade version. But it did not stop it from being an excellent game.

Ah the Super Nintendo, who does love this game console? well, maybe if you were a SEGA fan boy you won't, but still if you did own a SNES I have no doubt that you owned this title as it was one of the launch title for the system. This has to be one of my favourite games for the this game console as it was one of the first games that I played when I was a child. So let's dive into one of the best Mario games of the 90's.

#ThrowbackThursday: The Firemen.

Now there have been a lot of genres throughout the gaming industry, knights saving princesses, aliens invade earth, and the old classic "you are the only one that can stop that evil guy", to name but a few. Now when it’s comes to terms of originality for games, The Firemen, just might have been given a ribbon and a pat on the back. The Firemen? With a name like that surely you play as a couple of guys with the power of flames, right? Well reader, you’re wrong. You just play as a fire fighter, fighting fires.
