One of the UK's largest mobile phone retailers, the Carphone Warehouse, has admitted that their servers have been compromised and that 2.4 million people could be affected. Out of that figure, around 90,000 encrypted credit card numbers may have also been stolen.
The Carphone Warehouse the UK's biggest phone store is heading into the world of mobile networks with the launch of it's iD Mobile Network which offers a range of plans suited to any customer. The company is set to become a virtual mobile network operator (VMNO) which means it'll be piggybacking off of phone signals from another one of the UK's mobile network provider, Three. Unlike Three, The Carphone Warehouse is offering plans with pretty good value for money.
With Three's parent company, Hutchison Whampoa, finalising a deal in which the company will purchase O2 for a little over £10 billion, it seems Carphone Warehouse want to get in on that super-network and are planning to launch a phone network of their own powered by Three, which will not only offer flexible tarrifs, but also offer bundled connectivity for smart home appliances, so if you were debating on purchasing that WiFi Kettle, I'd definitely take the plunge.
Following Samsung revealing that the release of the Note Edge would be limited to a select number of units, it seems they may have had a change of heart as the Carphone Warehouse is set to be getting stock of Samsung's unique handset for sale in the UK. Though the UK retailer is yet to confirm the availability an image of the company's internal intranet reveals that they're certainly set to get the curved handset in the near future.
For those of you hoping that you'll be able to get hands-on with the larger-than-life Samsung Galaxy Note 4 when it launches in the UK on October 17, that's tomorrow, and if you plan on pre-ordering the handset from Carphone Warehouse today, unfortunately you won't be able to get your hands on the device until October 27.
When Phones 4U first announced that they were going into administration due to network partners EE and Vodafone refusing to renew their contracts with the company, I felt a little bad for what was one of my favourite phone stores. The news came just days after pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus opened and the company honestly admitted that they wouldn't be able to honour the pre-orders and a refund will be on its way to those who did. Unfortunately things have taken a bit of a dark turn as Phones 4U are now refusing to refund iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders..
Last week UK phone retailer Phones 4u sadly went into administration following both Vodafone and EE deciding not to renew their contracts with the company leaving Phones 4u with no phone carrier partners by the end of 2015, an outlook that P4u bosses didn't like the look of. This news meant that all of Phones 4u's 500+ stores were closed and almost 6,000 staff were out of a job, but there may be a saviour after all.
EE may stop selling through Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U as they are looking at new ways to increase their customer service. It has been reported by The Telegraph that the Deputy Chief Executive of Orange, part of EE, has pushed to “get rid” of third party retailers such as Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U.
Electronic Goliath Dixons, who own high street brands Currys and PC World, and smartphone superstore Carphone Warehouse announced a merger this week, in a deal thought to be worth almost £3.8bn...
LG's curved smartphone the LG G Flex has been floating around various EE stores over the past few weeks and now finally we have some news on when we'll be able to get the bendy display in our hands, though, it won't be cheap - at all.
We know the limited edition white Nexus 4 was discontinued yesterday but the Nexus 4 in any form has completely vanished from the Carphone Warehouse website.
The Huawei Ascend P6 was announced just the other day and Carphone Warehouse are the first to offer the super thin handset to the UK market with an expected delivery date of July 7.
If you're a Q10 fan but like your BlackBerry handset to be white you're in luck, the new shade is now available at the Carphone Warehouse and Selfridge
It may not be the newest model but the Carphone Warehouse have made it possible to get the iPhone 4 for £17 a month, if you choose to go with 02 or Three.
