In a universe dominated by Steam-powered robots, Earth as we know it is no longer and has exploded into oblivion. All that's left are a few floating chunks of rock and a really, really hot core. In amongst all of this chaos is a little rag-tag team of CowBots fighting for survival and overall peace, but there's a damn long journey ahead of them.
Image & Form have finally completed development on their follow-up to SteamWorld Dig and have announced the game's release date!
Usually at the end of the day, when you've spend the entire day at one of the UK's busiest gaming events, you just want to pack up and go home. But not Image & Form CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson, upon introducing myself to him at their busy stand in amongst the Nintendo area it was like Christmas morning for him, because he gets to show off his upcoming game once again, and with nothing else on for the remainder of the event, Brjann was keen to show me as much of the game he could.
Before SteamWorld Heist there was SteamWorld Dig and even though SteamWorld Dig is now on a number of different platforms, it originally launched on the Nintendo 3DS and quickly gained popularity. Since then the game has launched on many different platforms with its successor, SteamWorld Heist, also set to launch on those platforms immediately, but Image & Form want players to know they haven't forgotten about the platform which started it all.
What's more of an interesting spin-off than a full blown sequel, Image & Form's SteamWorld Heist has a similar name, but in reality it's a completely different experience. SteamWorld Heist is set to launch later this year following a brief delay, and offers a more strategic turn-based affair than SteamWorld Dig, the original game from the developers.
Almost two years after it's initial launch on Nintendo 3DS, Image & Form has this week announced that SteamWorld Dig is finally coming to dig up the Xbox One. The game has since been released in PC, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and Wii U, so it's about time us Xbox One players got our turn!
Image & Form has announced that their follow up, but not a sequel to SteamWorld Dig, SteamWorld Heist, will be getting a short delay switching its release window from Spring 2015 to just 2015. In addition to the release date change, the developer has also shared some pretty sweet screenshots of the game in action.
Image & Form Games, the creators behind the digtastic side-scrolling platform adventure game SteamWorld Dig, are back once again with a brand new game set for release in Spring 2015; SteamWorld Heist. The game, set after the events of the first game, isn't a direct sequel, but a new game in the same universe. This time the game focuses on turn-based combat as you plan and execute heists on other ships in order to nab those much needed resources to stay alive.
