Carmageddon, the controversial racing game from the 90s by UK-based studio Stainless Games has been acquired by THQ Nordic.

Following the disappointment that was Carmageddon: Reincarnation on PC, Stainless Games are back once again with another new Carmageddon title, this time one for current-gen consoles. Though, it's not quite new, more a re-skinned version of the Kickstarter success. However, does it perform better than the PC Reincarnation, or should the past be left in the past.

Stainless Games has this week announced a revised release date for Carmageddon: Max Damage for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Stainless Games has today announced that a brand new Carmageddon game is incoming in the form of Carmageddon: Max Damage, which is due for release later this year for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

For those looking forward to April 23 to once again tear up the street and cause utter chaos in an overly blood-filled world, you'll be saddened to hear that Max Damage needs a few more weeks in order to get his beast of a vehicle in order. Stainless Games announced the news in a press release yesterday saying that they're "pushing that date out by what is technically referred to as 'a tad'."

Carmageddon Reincarnation has been in Early Access for some time now, and while the game has seen a considerable number of updates, we've been none the wiser as to when the game was set to release. Fortunately, today we've got a release date for the game, which is set to slam out of Early Access on April 23.

Well over a year ago now I briefly mentioned Sainless Games Kickstarter campaign for Carmageddon: Reincarnation a reboot of their classic mental car racing game from the mid 90's Carmageddon. It's been quite under wraps at the moment with the original game only seeing a PC release, but news recently has shed a little more light on the game and there's also a possibility for a next-generation console release.
